Meditation for Beginners: What you need to know
You want to meditate, but think too much or can’t sit still? Then follow the recommendations of the enlightened Yogis and masters from all over the world and traditions. Their teachings are based on the common UNIVERSAL WISDOM, which is the essence of all wisdom traditions like the Vedas, including Yoga, Buddhism, Sufism or Kabbalah.
The goal is Deep Meditation in order to be connected with the highest energy, the source of our life energy and all creations in the universe. That`s because meditation is much more than just relaxation of the mind. It is a state of being, where you immerse with the divine. By deep meditation your expand your consciousness, which allows you, to stay always in deep connection. Once you are connected, you can direct the divine energy to create whatever you want – like the universe. You can bring the positive energy on earth, which prevents wars and other catastrophies. And you are able to heal yourself or others.
Meditation for Beginners: The goal is Deep Meditation
Even if you are a beginner, your goal should be to meditate deeply – right from the beginning. For this you have to go beyond your thoughts and emotions. You have to build up a direct connection to the source, which takes time and discipline.
For sure, you need to meditate at least for one hour per day. In the beginning start with some minutes and then increase your meditation every day some minutes more. In Meditation for beginners the masters recommend to meditate in the early morning, when everything is quiet and clean. At this time there is less or no pollution, noise or negative energies in the field, which could distract you.

Some Yogis meditate straight away after waking up, using the Theta State, a stage of brain activity, which is the perfect to meditate deeply.
This is because while waking up, we are half in dreamland. This is an other dimension, which is closer to the divine source energy than our reality, which we experience in the Beta State. Even in Alpha State, which is the relax mode, we can’t really connect. But if your mind is calm in the morning I recommend to use this dreamy state for Deep Meditation and do the exercises afterwards.
Meditation for Beginners: Focus on the Source
There are many techniques which help you focus on the source energy. According to many enlightened masters, focussing on the highest energy is most effective – even if you are a beginner. Just Imagine an energy spring, which derives from the universe and in which you immerse in the center. You feel the pull that draws you deeper and deeper. The source of all energy is far beyond light and manifestation – a quantum field of free unmanifested energy.
The goal is to focus on that source, while you are meditating and in every moment of the day. Always check if you are connected, for example when you are waiting for something or when you are engaged in some monotonous work. Later you will feel the connection always and everywhere – this is called enlightenment. The secret is to focus all the time on that divine energy, no matter what is happening around you.
Meditation for Beginners: How to overcome thoughts and emotions
Thinking too much or feeling negative emotions and restlessness are a real issue, when it comes to Deep Meditation. First and foremost it is very natural that our human mind is extremely active. This is because of our modern lifestyle, with too much work, difficult relationships and an overload of information, which the mind can`t process so fast. Stress hormone are released, which have a very negative impact on our body and mind.
There are many very intelligent methods to relax the mind and gain full focus on the divine source. The following recommendations are given by enlightened Yogis, who received instructions for Deep Meditation directly directly from the divine.
Meditation for Beginners: Mantra Meditation - Most Effective
The most effective Meditation technique is Sound Meditation, for example with Vedic Mantras, because they tune in with the divine sound of creation. By hearing a Mantra, for example the Laxmi Mantra, you instantly get connected with the source. Such a Mantra Meditation is extremely powerful, when it comes to Meditation for Beginners.
Mantra means holy syllable or holy verse. They consist of a sequence of syllables with a high vibrational frequency with different effects. Mantras are consciously used for a specific goal. In Meditation the Mantra is repeated in the form of a melodic chant loud or mentally, usually 108 times. There are also variants where the Mantra is chanted for up to 48 hours on auspicious days.
The repetition of the syllables creates a high-vibrational energy field, in which thoughts have no place. Mental activities fade into the background, allowing to entry levels of higher consciousness. In this high-vibrational energy field we connect with the universal energy, the source of all creation and our life energy. This energy has a bold energizing and healing effect.
In Mantras every syllable has to be spoken in a very specific way, so that the desired vibration is generated. This needs to be learned from a real Guru who attained enlightment. Better you just listen to a Mantra, which you have chosen by yourself. Vedic Mantras are now available on YouTube or Spotify. You can also get your own Mantra from an experienced Yoga teacher, who introduce you into Mantra Meditation. The Mantra you will be given, shouldn`t cost a fortune and should be in a holy language like Sanskrit, Hebrew or any other ancient language.
MeDitation for Beginners: Breathing Meditation
Another effective technique for Meditation for Beginners is Breathing Meditation, which is used in many wisdom traditions. While breathing you pay attention to your inhalation and exhalation with your eyes closed. Over time, your thoughts become lost and you find yourself in a higher dimension, where you don’t breath much. Your full focus is on the source energy.
When you reach that state, don’t focus again on breathing, because this holds you down to reality. Allow yourself to fly and to immerse into higher realms.
Meditation for Beginners: Walking Meditation
If you can’t sit still while meditating, do a Walking Meditation. This is a very common technique when it comes to Meditation for Beginners, practiced in monastery’s all over the world to help the monks to loose their restlessness or negative emotions. While walking the metabolism is activated, which allow the body to remove stresshormons like Adrenalin from the blood. If you really want to meditate deeply, you need to stay calm on daytime. Don’t get upset. This is the only way your hormonal state stays in balance.
Find a quit place for your Walking meditation, ideally in nature. Listen to the birds and insects or to a Mantra with headphones connected to your cell phone to stay mobile. You can also chant the Mantra mentally. Sit down for sometimes – eyes are closed. Extend these “sitting periods” until you are able to listen to the Mantra while sitting. You will see, day by day you sit longer.
Active Meditation: The Chakra-Meditation
Chakra Meditation is a great technique for beginners, because it is an ACTIVE MEDITATION, which brings your attention to high vibrational thoughts and visions.
We have seven CHAKRAS in our body. These are energy centers, which receive life energy from the universe and distribute it to every cell in the body. Chakra Meditation is incredibly energizing and also clears blockages caused by trauma that hinder the free flow of energy.
Find an experienced Yoga teacher, who guides you to meditate on the Chakras or look for a guided Chakra Meditation for Beginners on YouTube or an other medium. This way you learn, where each Chakras is located. Later you can perform the Chakra meditation on your own and even heal yourself.

You are probably exhausted and got less sleep the last days or weeks. Go to bed earlier. Paramahansa Yogananda, an enlightened master of India, who wrote the book “The Autobiography of a Yogi“, recommended, when feeling tired, you should squint your eyes tightly and then open them wide again. After a while you stay awake in Meditation.

Without medication or psychotherapy stress symptoms such as high blood pressure, migraine and depression disappear after a while. The metabolism gets a kick and digestion runs like a clockwork. You need less sleep and suddenly have an energy available, you never experienced before.
